The Friday Five - June 20, 2025

5th Grade Capstone
Congratulations to our 5th graders on completing and presenting their Capstone projects! The wide range of inquiry based research projects reflects the deep curiosity and inquisitiveness that our students possess. Their pursuit of scientific wonderings, historical events, and personal passions required expert interviews, site visits, and traditional research. By posing and answering questions of their own design, students narrowed down their topics and integrated feedback from peers and teachers alike. Thank you to our teachers and the experts who supported our students on their Capstone journey!
Learning, Living, and Leading
Here is a small sample of progress made this year toward our strategic plan goals: Student focus groups responsive to last year's belonging survey have helped to define building goals for next year, which will be shared in the Fall; work to identify priority capital projects for a potential bond referendum in 2026 is well underway; training of faculty and staff on the prevention, reporting, and investigation of bullying, harassment, discrimination, and misconduct took place, and planning for student-facing lessons for next year has begun; finally, we launched ParentSquare as our new communications platform, and upgraded our website, including the new Parent Hub page.
Graduation is Tonight!
SHS class of 2025 Commencement is set for 7 PM on Butler Field. The graduation will be live streamed on SPS-TV, so please feel free to tune in. A shout out to our custodial team for all their preparations - Butler Field is ready to welcome our soon-to-be graduates and their loved ones!
Spring Sports Final
Congratulations to the Girls Golf team on another State Championship! Emma Lee finished tied for 6th in the tournament. The Track and Field team competed at the state tournament this past weekend. Eva Gibney finished 5th in the pentathlon, and Adrianna Pettinelli finished 4th in the 1500m. The girls All-State 4 x 800 relay team of Rachel Rakower, Zoe Dichter, Leia Patel, and Adrianna Pettinelli, took 4th place. Congratulations to all of our athletes on a tremendous year! As we look to 2025-26, Football practices start on August 23 and all other sports begin on August 25.
That 's A Wrap!
This will be the final edition of The Friday Five for the 2024-25 school year. Please remember that next week follows an early release schedule for our schools. Please keep your eye out for the first of two Back-to-School editions of The Friday Five on August 22. In closing, thank you to our amazing Scarsdale Public Schools community for making this year so positive. It truly takes a village, and this is a very special one. We wish you all a fun, restful, and relaxing summer!
