• Mystyer Reader Hall of Fame 2017-2018

     

     

  • October
     
    Our mystery reader this month was Nidhi Puri. She read us a book called Halloween by Gail Gibbons. As an activity, students made spiders out of boxes and pipe cleaners. 
  • November

    Our November mystery reader was Mr. Charles Lam. He read us a book called Thank You Sarah, The Woman Who Saved Thanksgiving by Laurie Halse Anderson. As a project, students made a turkey out of their very own handprint. Students also did a Thanksgiving word search. 

  • December

    Our mystery reader this month was Milena Strasser. She read us a book called Tabitha, The Fabulous Flying Feline by Carol Anne Timmel. The students enjoyed listening about the flying adventure this cat had on an airplane. Using paint and cotton balls, students created their own works of animal art. 

  • Our last mystery reader this month was Mr. Latzman. He read us an excerpt from a book called The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. Students were very intrigued by the story. Students used their imagination to create the sheep in the story. Ask your child about the excerpt of the book that was read to them. 

     

     

     

  • February

    Our first mystery reader this month was Mr. Adam Lazarus. He read us his favorite childhood book Curious George Visits A Toy Store by Margret & HA Rey. Students made their own puzzles of their favorite book and completed a mystery reader word search. 

  • Another mystery reader this month was Amber Amicucci. She read us a book called Mousetronaut Goes To Mars by Astronaut Mark Kelly. Students did an outer space word search.

  • March

    Our first mystery reader was Atara Stahl. She read us a book called Mindful Mantras: I Can Handle It by Laurie Wright. We talked about how a mantra is a special saying. Mantras are something we tell ourselves to make us or a friend feel better. Students came up with their own mantras and created a foam board full of these great sayings. 

  • Our next mystery reader this month was Kerrie Braff. She read us a book called Ella The Elegant Elephant by Carmela & Steven D'Amico. Students created their own elegant hats. A great time was had by all.

  • April

     

    Mrs. Mantenna was our first April mystery reader. She read us a book called Shark Lady by Jess Keating. Ask your child what they learned from this scientist who studied and loves sharks. Students did a crossword puzzle and word search as an activity.

  • Our next mystery reader is Mrs. Warren. She read us a book called The Carrot Seed by Ruth Krauss. We learned about the parts of a carrot. We also planted seeds. A good time was had by all.

  • May

     

    Our first mystery reader was Mrs. Anastasian. She read a book called The Wretched Stone by Chris Van Allsburg. Ask your child what the story was about and the lesson learned. Students painted their own stones as an activity. 

  • Our next mystery reader was Mr. Chadie. He read us a book called The Smartest Giant In Town by Julia Donaldson. Ask your child what the story was about. Ask your child what things the giant gave up to help others. 

  • June

     

    June was a fun month of mystery readers. 

    We had Mr. Braff read us a book called At The Same Moment Around The World by Clotilde Perrin. Students then participated in a game where they had to guess a country based on the clues they were given.

  • Our next mystery reader was Becky Largen. She read us a fun book called The Circus Ship by Chris Van Dusen. Students made aninmal book marks and did a circus animal word search.

  • The next mystery reader was Ezra's Grandma (Mrs. Stahl). She read us The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. Students made two individual bracelets. A good time was had by all.
