Dear 2Jo Students and Families,
Welcome to second grade! I am so happy to be your teacher as we enter a new and exciting school year together. I have had a wonderful, fun and busy summer with my family. I have two kids. Skye is going to be a sophomore in high school and Sam will be an eighth grader. We spent 2 glorious weeks in Hawaii. I have so many stories to share with you! I can't wait to hear about all of your adventures this summer! September is just around the corner and I hope you are looking forward to returning to school and re-connecting with old friends, and also making new ones.
Second grade is filled with many fascinating topics in science and social studies. You will learn the importance of recycling, the life cycle of mealworms, communities and much more. Most importantly, you will become amazing readers and writers and dazzle your parents with the new math skills you will learn! As you can see the year ahead is filled with many adventures that await you.
Remember the school day begins at 8:35 am, so get to bed early and get a good night sleep. Please remember to bring a healthy snack (we are a peanut/nut- free classroom) every morning. Lastly, it would be nice to share a special memory from your summer with the class. Parents, please help your child find one photograph or special item that they would like to share during the first week of school.
I will be busy next week setting up our classroom and preparing for the first day of school. Please wait to bring in your supplies until the first week of school. Please take a look at my teacher page for more info if you have not purchased your supplies. Enjoy the remainder of your summer and I look forward to meeting you in September!
