Circle of Friends:
It is commonly known that a true education must address the whole child. Children who know how to get along with their peers feel good about themselves and do better academically. With this knowledge, the psychologists in all of the elementary schools have developed a curriculum to promote social skill development. We go into the classrooms and instruct the students on a variety of prosocial skills. In our lessons, we focus on making friends, being good listeners, personal space, being problem solvers instead of "tattlers", understanding individual differences, and bully prevention with emphasis on how to be "upstanders" instead of "bystanders". In this way, we are able to reinforce the District theme of Circle of Friends.
What is a School Psychologist?-
School psychologists help children and youth succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. We collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students that strengthen connections between home and school.

We play a role in helping children and youth succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. This is accomplished through collaboration and consultation with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students. It is also accomplished through both evaluation and intervention.

School psychologists help others understand child development and how it affects learning and behavior. It also strengthens the working relationships among teachers, parents, and service providers in both the school and the community. In collaboration with teachers, parents, and administrators, the School Psychologist works to find effective solutions to learning and behavior problems.
