Dear 4th Grader,
I hope that you have been having fun during the summer and are looking forward to your year in fourth grade. I am looking forward to a wonderful year!
Please bring in an independent reading book that you have not read yet, or are in the middle of, to leave in your table’s book basket for independent reading time. You will need to bring this book back and forth with you each day so you are always ready to read whenever we have a spare moment!
The first week, we will decorate our Writer’s Notebooks. In order to complete this activity, you will need to bring in some supplies. These are items that will remind and inspire you throughout the year. They will be glued onto your notebook and then covered with Contact paper by me. You can use:
- Photos (family, pets, vacations, etc.)
- Stickers/Duct tape
- Magazine cutouts (images or animals, sports figures, etc)
- NO 3-D decorations!
You will be covering a marble notebook front and back, so bring plenty of items – it’s better to have leftovers than to run out!
You are invited to take a look at my Schoolwires page before school starts. We will be exploring it together in class. Please feel free to e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to meeting our class and working with you. Enjoy the rest of your summer and I will see you in September!
