Welcome to Class 5S!

5th grade is a pivotal time in a student’s educational journey.  Your child will experience a year of deeper thinking and greater independence. However, and perhaps more importantly, they will also experience a year of fun and joy as they transition into the next chapter of middle school.

A career in teaching often starts well before a teacher’s first day in the classroom. My career started by working as an advocate for laws and policies that protect public education. It was through this experience that I discovered a passion for inclusion and making sure each student feels they are part of the team, classroom, and larger school community. This is still what motivates me today.  While this is my first year at Fox Meadow, it is my 11th year as a teacher. I come to Scarsdale after 10 years of teaching in Manhattan. While I've taught many different elementary grade levels, my heart is forever in 5th. There is something incredibly special about this age and this grade.

Our classroom will extend beyond its walls. There will be multiple avenues to not only keep in touch with me, but to get a glimpse into our learning environment and learn alongside your child. One way you can get started is by exploring our class website, linked here. Checking the website regularly isn't necessary. However, you can find helpful tools, charts, and information about the curriculum and classroom. As the year gets underway, I will share even more ways to keep engaged.
