Welcome to English 8! I am very excited to get to know each one of you as we grow together this school year. Together, we will explore themes of identity and self discovery, analyzing our society and our past through genres such as Fiction, Historical Non-Fiction, Drama (plays), poetry, short stories, and Young Adult literature. We will investigate different perspectives, applying various literary lenses and analytical strategies to expand and deepen our understanding of literature, writing, language, the world around us, and ourselves. The assignments in this course are selected carefully and are meant to assess student learning; classwork and homework should be completed to the best of your ability in order to achieve the skills and objectives set each day. I am here to support you as you grow this year and prepare you for your future as an English Scholar.

Office Hours: Office hours are generally after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and by appointment. A schedule is posted in the classroom and students working on Essays/Projects should schedule an Essay/Project Appointment posted on Schoology for a 1 on 1 conference to schedule an appointment.

Important note: All class assignments and materials can be found in Schoology unless a paper assignment is given (explicit directions will be given in class if this is the case).

Please reach out to me any time with any questions or concerns. I wish everyone a successful and productive school year!
