Dear Seventh Grade Scholars and Parents:

Welcome to the 2021-22 school year! I am pleased to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and welcome your child to the seventh grade at Scarsdale Middle School. This will be my 6th year teaching English Language Arts(ELA); my 1st year teaching at SMS. I graduated from Pace University with a major in English Education 7-12 (2015). In 2020, I received my master’s degree in Special Education at Manhattanville University. In short, I am dual certified in ELA/spED in NY & CT. 

When planning for class, I like to keep in mind that ELA is a subject area where considerable ingenuity must be applied to the reading, writing, listening, and or speaking lessons/activities. To that point, I am optimistic for the upcoming school year; building upon the skills students mastered last year, and helping students accomplish new challenges in the language arts subject area. 

Moreover, I have many expectations for the scholars in my classroom. Some of the most important are being responsible for assignments and actions, putting forth your best effort at all times, taking risks and persevering through any challenges or pitfalls. Your child will be responsible for completing and turning in each assignment and I know that you will support them from home. 

I unequivocally believe a positive learning experience is built on a collaborative effort among parents, students, and teachers; by extension, I welcome your questions and concerns as the year progresses. Also, I will do my best to be as forthcoming and communicative with any important information about the class or your child in a timely manner. My lessons, activities and all extra resources will be posted on Schoology to review if you are curious about what's happening in our class.

To delineate, my ultimate goal is for each scholar to experience success and to foster a love of reading, writing, speaking, innovation, and collaboration. I am thrilled to work with you and your child over the course of the school year. If questions or concerns should arise, please feel free to email me, or get in contact with the house counselor.
