Philosophy and Goals
In the Reading Program at Edgewood we support students as they build their reading lives. In my classroom students learn the behaviors, habits and strategies they need to become confident and lifelong readers. I provide supplemental reading instruction for students who need an opportunity to progress at an accelerated rate with Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI). Students learn in a small group, which affords them the opportunity to learn and grow in a cooperative and differentiated environment.
Instruction can cover any (or all) of the following components of reading:
- comprehension
- phonemic awareness
- phonics
- writing
- vocabulary
- fluency
