    About My Classroom

Classroom RulesSit in assigned seats at all times.  The only exception to sitting in assigned seats is during group work.  During class lectures all questions and comments must be saved for specific times during class when questions are allowed. During class work, while the teacher is walking around the room questions regarding the class work can be answered by raising your hand and waiting for the teacher to arrive at your desk.  Questions can also be asked after class or during extra help times.  Calling out or disrupting class is not tolerated. The first violation of each class you will receive a warning. The second violation will be an after class detention. After three detentions a parent will be contacted regarding your behavior.  Be on time and sit down immediately.Arrive prepared.Be polite and courteous to others.Raise your hand when you wish to speak.Listen carefully and stay on task.

Class Participation Follow class rules.Ask and answer questions that relate to what we are doing.  Listen carefully.  Use accurate pronunciation.

Class Work Work conscientiously during class time.  Put your best effort towards formal or informal aural, oral and written work.  This includes your notebook checks, notes, skits, letters, songs, worksheets, partner work, games, and group work.

Assessments  Take advantage of in class review before each assessment.  Be patient.  You may not have your assessment returned until all students have taken it.

Projects  Plan ahead!  Projects are long term assignments.  They require forethought, planning and time management.Put in your best effort.

Absence from class Seek extra help!  It is your responsibility to find out what you missed and catch up when you have been absent from class.Make up your work within one week.  If you don't make up your work within one week your grade will become a 0.  If you are absent the day before a quiz or exam you should still expect to take the quiz or exam.  Both are always announced well in advance.  If you have been absent for several days leading up to an assessment, see your teacher for extra help and discuss the situation.

Extra Help Please speak with me before or after class to set an appointment for extra help.

Academic Grading in World Language   In the sixth grade French and Spanish languages courses, students are evaluated using the Middle School grading system.  Aural and oral work, class work, class preparation and participation, unit assessments, homework, and projects are crucial to the student's overall performance.
