• NYSSMA is the New York State School Music Association, a group run by music teachers from across NY State to further the education of music students k-12.

    Each year NYSSMA holds music festivals for instrumental and vocal students k-12. This year the Festival will be held at: TBD.
    It is an opportunity for students to perform in front of other music teachers for evaluation and constructive criticism. Students prepare a solo for his/her instrument as well as a specific number of major scales. The solos are suited to the level of the student and are chosen by the student's school music teacher and/or private teacher. These solos introduce students to certain music literature that they may not be exposed to in school. The solos can be a wonderful challenge. It is also an opportunity to have a "practice audition" if students intend to audition for All County Orchestra. 

    Students will register through their school orchestra teacher. The Scarsdale deadline for payment and registration is: TBD in order for information to be processed by the NYSSMA deadline.
