NYSSMA FESTIVAL 2024 REGISTRATION DEADLINE February 28, 2024
Every year, the New York State Music Teachers' Association hosts a special festival that allows students a chance to have their progress evaluated. Students prepare a solo, scales and sight-reading and perform for highly trained judges who deliver insightful, positive comments. Students get to meet many other young musicians and mostly, students enjoy practicing for this goal. It is a worthwhile and fun experience. NYSSMA scores will also be used to qualify for acceptance in the Westchester All County Band.
If you are interested, the festival dates are Friday and Saturday May 3rd & 4th, 2024 @ Pelham High School (Upon registering, students are pre-assigned their own 15 minute time slot some time during these two days.)Please note that all students must prepare a solo, scales and sight reading as listed in the current NYSSMA manual. I have a copy of the manual in school, but your private teacher should also have this information to prepare you for the festival.
TO REGISTER:Please send in (your child can hand it to me or place in my mailbox) an envelope with a check made out to "Scarsdale UFSD" for $16.00 for level 1-4 or $24.00 level for 5-6.On the envelope, clearly write:Child's Name (first and last);Instrument;Name of Solo;Level of Solo;Page from the NYSSMA Manual (ask your child's private teacher for this. I have a copy of the manual as well, so I can provide this if you need.);Preferred day and time range (Friday afternoon; Friday evening; Saturday morning or Saturday afternoon).
