Welcome to the 2022-23 Scarsdale School Budget Study. The PTC encourages all parents and taxpayers to participate in the school budget study process. The District's Board of Education web pages contain relevant information including current and past budget documents. The budget process is a months-long process. Upcoming meetings where members of the public may pose questions and opine on the budget are listed in the Budget Calendar.

April 3: The PTC Budget Study Chairs are pleased to share with you the PTC Budget Study Statement delivered at Monday's Budget Community Forum. We thank all seven budget liaisons and PTA presidents, as well as the PTC Executive Council, for their input on the budget in the last six months. Budget resources, Frequently Asked Questions, and the budget glossary may be found on the PTC Budget Study Page. Questions may be addressed to the Budget Study Chairs at this email.
March 27: The PTC Budget Study Chairs invite all residents to participate in the Budget Study Forum, Monday, March 28th at 6pm at Room 170-172, at Scarsdale High School. You may also view the forum remotely. This community event is designed to hear public comment about the proposed 2022-2023 school budget.

Here is a copy of the preliminary proposed 2022-23 budget. Staffing recommendations may be found in this presentation. The Board of Education will vote on the budget on April 4th and has a statutory budget hearing on May 9th. The budget vote is on May 17th at the Scarsdale Middle School 7am-9pm.
March 20: Do you have a question about the proposed budget? Please take a look at the ones that the PTC sent the Administration. The three Q and As are from November, January, and February. If your questions have not been posed, please write us or the Board of Education. You may also participate in public comment this Monday at Budget Session #3 at 6:30pm or at the Budget Community forum March 28 at 6:00pm.
March 13: School Budget At a Glance
- Preliminary proposed budget is $173,291,393, a rise of 3.85% from 2021-2022.
- Special education and mental health student services represent the largest rise in budgetary recommendations from the Administration.
- Proposed budget represents a 3.45% increase in the tax levy, which is under the New York state tax cap of 3.50%.
- Projected tax rate increase is 2.43% for the Town of Scarsdale and 3.68% for the Town of Mamaroneck.
March 6: Budget Study Session #2 is this Monday, March 7 at 6pm. The meeting is livestreamed. The PTC encourages your participation in the budget process. February 13: The Budget Book will be discussed during Budget Study Session #1 at the Board of Education (BOE) meeting on Monday, February 14. You may find the Budget Book here. The BOE meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. and is livestreamed on this site. Public comment is on Zoom; please remember to mute the livestream before speaking on Zoom to avoid an echo. February 6: During Budget Season, the Parent Teacher Council (PTC) Budget Study Co-Chairs will be sharing information with Scarsdale parents at every Sunday PTA newsletter to encourage your participation in the budget process. The District Administration has published answers to the PTC's questions posed during the Budget Priorities Forum; that document may be found here. Last week, the District Administration delivered a presentation about Special Education at our schools; here is the presentation. The PTC Budget Co-Chairs have prepared a glossary of commonly used budget and special education terms and acronyms, which we include here. A more detailed Frequently Asked Questions document will be available in the coming weeks for parents interested in learning more about the budget process.

January 30: At Monday’s BOE meeting the following changes to the budget study session schedule were announced: Budget Study Session #1 was bumped to Feb. 14, #2 Mar. 7, and #3 Mar. 21. The Budget Forum is now Mar. 28.
January 16: The school budget season has begun in earnest. The PTC Budget Study Co-Chairs encourage all Scarsdale residents, whether you have children in the school district or not, to participate in the months-long budget process. You may speak during public comment at Board of Education (BOE) meetings, reach out to your school's PTA Budget Study Liaison, and/or you may email us at PTCbudget10583@gmail.com with your questions and observations.
