    Dear Parents & Guardians,

While there are currently no known cases of the coronavirus in our area, I am writing to assure the community that the District is closely monitoring the situation. In conjunction with our District Physician, we are following all information releases from federal, state, and local health authorities.

At this time, there is no specific guidance regarding additional precautions for schools. The District continually monitors the overall health of our students through absence reporting, disease notifications, and coordination with the Department of Health in the reporting any required illnesses.  Additionally, each flu season our awareness is heightened and our faculty and staff take common-sense approaches to mitigate the spread of illness. This includes thorough cleaning of classroom surfaces and common areas and constantly reminding students to wash their hands and cover their mouths while coughing or sneezing.

The CDC has published an excellent summary of the current outbreak here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/summary.html

As of the time of this writing, there are 4 states with confirmed cases of 2019 N-CoV (Coronavirus) and New York has no confirmed cases.  While the CDC suspects that additional cases will emerge, they feel the risk to public health in the United States is currently low.

We will keep you informed of any changes in the situation.
