     Course Descriptions

    MOVE

    Monday (10 Sessions)

    Golf with TGA (K-2/3-5): $275. Learn the basic skills needed to play Golf with TGA. Students will be separated by lower and upper grades. 

    Sports Mash Up with Fenom Fitness (2-5): $275. Let's play! Get moving with a rotating series of sports and games led by coaches from FENOM FITNESS. It's a perfect way to start the week!

    Tuesday (10 Sessions)

    Tennis with GREG and BRIAN (K-5): $265. Have fun learning the basics of tennis with our longtime FM favorites- Coaches Greg and Brian.  

    Fit Foxes with FAST Athletics (K-2): $265. Girls and boys will have a blast in this active club for our youngest Foxes. Students will start each class with proper stretching and warm-up exercises, learn basic skills of a sport (such as soccer, baseball, basketball, Gaga, and kickball), and end the day with a high-energy game of the day's sport.

    Wednesday (10 Sessions)

    Gaga with Talon Fitness (1-5): $265. Talon Fitness is bringing back the Gaga pit! Have fun dodging the ball in this popular club. There will be 2 pits- one for grades 1-2 and another for grades 3-5. 

    Fit Foxes with FAST Athletics (K-2): $265. Girls and boys will have a blast in this active club for our youngest Foxes.     Friday (12 Sessions)

    Tennis with GREG and BRIAN (K-2): $315. Have fun learning the basics of tennis with long-time FM instructors- Coaches Greg and Brian. 

    Fencing with New Amsterdam Fencing Academy (3-5): $335. Students will build agility, coordination, and awareness of their own bodies in space while learning how to fence.

    Monday (10 Sessions)

    Crafty Foxes with Lydia (K-2): $265. Kids get in touch with their creative side in this popular favorite.

    Art Shuffle with One River School of Art (3-5): $350. One River School of Art and Design is coming back to Fox Meadow! Develop important artistic techniques with art educators from this popular art school. 

    Curiologists with Curious-On-Hudson (K-2): $285. Back by popular demand! This is our hands-on science program for younger students. From bubbles to slime, invisible ink to oxidation, these kids will get down and messy and experience the wonder that is the chemical properties of common elements. 

    NASA Science with Curious-On-Hudson (3-5): $285.  Come learn about the engineering innovation related to NASA missions. Aeropace engineering projects include principles of flight in design projects, technologies related to space exploration, robotics, temperature, and other elements of space exploration.

    Tuesday (10 Sessions)

    Exploring Clay with Mary (K-1): $285. Learn the prcess of sculpting with Clay in this long-time Fox Meadow favorite. Students will be bringing home many masterpieces that have been hand-sculpted, painted, and fired up in the kiln.

    Studio Art with Lydia (2-5): $265. Refine artistic skills in this studio art coiurse! Feel your worries disappear as you focus on fun projects that let you get creative.

    Picture Book with Ms. Schorr (K-5): $265. Students become authors and illustrators of their very own in this popular club led by our librarian, Ms. Schorr.

    Super Sleuths with Little Schoars (2-5): $265. Get out your magnifying glass and detective hat as we have clues to decipher and crimes to solve. Applying critical thinking skills and STEM knowledge, students will get to the bottom of mysteries by learning the tricks real investigators use to solve cases. While experimenting with simple detection techniques, students will feel like CSI agents!

    Wednesday (10 Sessions)

    Sew Happy: Llama Drama (1-5): $265. Sewing is a great life skill, but it is also great for hand/eye coordination, fine motor skills, focus and concentration, and creative expression! Students will learn the basic techniques of sewing and first sew a round mug rug. Next, they will move on to sewing, stuffing, and decorating a llama stuffie and blanket. The final part of this project is a llama/cactus keychain with interchangeable accessories where the students will enjoy dressing their felt friends with sunglasses bows, hats, and scarves. All Sew Happy projects are designed in-house, made in the USA and use felt made from recycled water bottles. 

    Caine's Arcade with Mr. McKenna and Mrs. Schorr (K-5): $265. Your imagination is the limit for this club where we turn cardboard boxes into arcade games! Design and build your own arcade game, test it, and have others play it in this fast-paced club! Students will work in teams or alone, to create one or many games for other students to play. We will dive into the Makerspace for materials; cardboard is just the start. Join Mr. McKenna and Mrs. Schorr for this creative and fun club! 

    Manners and Social Skills with AskMalvina (K-2): $265. Etiquette specialist Malvina Peckerman is coming to Fox Meadow! A certified children's manners and social skills coach focusing on making manners an everyday habit. Topics will include Magic Words, Sharing is Caring, Oops! I Goofed and I am Sorry, and Mealtime: More Manners and Less Madness.

    Thursday (11 Sessions)

    Medieval Tales with Curious-on-Hudson (K-2): $295. Students are introduced to the earliest Western literature through the telling and discussion of legendary stories. After sharing a story representative of the Middle Ages, students will craft and take home corresponding art projects such as shields, banners, stained glass and much more!

    Chess with the National Scholastic Chess Foundation (K-5): $295. Learn to play Chess, or practice mastery of the game with our instructor from the National Scholastic Chess Foundation.

    Jewelry Making with Ms. Marshall (1-5): $285. Come join Ms. Marshall and make statement pieces to add to your jewelry collection.

    Young Inventors with Curious-on-Hudson(1-3): $295. In this Maker club, students will learn about a great invention such as the elevator, bridges, kites, toys, and catapults, and be presented with an open challenge to creat their own invention with raw materials. 

    Manners and Social Skills with AskMalvina (3-5): $285. Etiquette specialist Malvina Peckerman is coming to Fox Meadow! A certified children's manners and social skills coach focusing on making manners an everyday habit. This interactive and modern club will be a valuable resource in teaching students to combat bullying, social media faux pas, and other relevant obstacles.

    Friday (12 Sessions)

    One River School of Art: Art Shuffle Jr. (K-2): $355. One River School of Art + Design returns to Fox Meadow! Develop important artistic techniques with reputable art educators from this popular art school.

    Creative Drama and Improv (3-5): $295. Unleash your dramatic side and work on quick thinking skills that will serve you on and off the stage, laughing all the way!

    Great Inventors with Curious-on-Hudson (3-5): $335. Marie Curie, Whitcomb Judson, Ada Lovelace, and Nikola Tesla are just some of the Great Inventors the class will cover to seek inspiration from. Curiosity and creativity are celebrated and explored as students use raw materials to make their own inventions in this Maker club.

    Brick Bonanza with Little Scholars(K-5): $295. Brick builders will dive into projects and design challenges such as maze designs, simple machine creations, and one of a kind masterpieces in this popular club. Bring your LEGO®-building "A" game and let's build!

     

    COMPUTE

    Monday (10 Sessions)

    Make Your Own Apps with Aubrey (2-5): $275. Learn to program and design apps that can be saved and scanned onto iPhones and iPads.

    Comic Book Illustration with Digital Arts Experience (3-5): $275. Use your imagination to design your own characters and create your own comics to bring them to life using Photoshop! The class will utilize traditional drawing and digital drawing with tablets to create their comics. Students will take home a printed copy of their comic book at the end of the semester.

    Tuesday (10 Sessions)

    Robotics with Mr. McKenna (3-5): $275. Join Mr. McKenna and students from the Scarsdale HS robotics club as we explore the many bots available at FM, and others tha the HS students bring! We will code, create, build challenges, and make our own bots as well. Some bots we explore are Dash and Dot, Ozobots, Finchbots, and Lego Wedo. We will create some take home bots as well!

    Wednesday (10 Sessions)

    Intro to Coding with Aubrey (2-5): $275. This class will cover the fundamentals of programming and use JavaScript, Python, and Swift languages all while playing your favorite games. Play Plants vs. zombies, and build your own Flappy Bird Game, or Mod Minecraft in Tyker.

    Thursday (11 Sessions)

    Minecraft Jr. with Ms. Schorr (1-2): $295. Learn the basics of how to play this popular game.

    3D Printing and Design with Mr. McKenna (3-5): $295. Explore the art and practice of creating new objects with our in-house 3D printer.

    Friday (12 Sessions)

    LEGO Stop Motion Animation with Digital Arts Experience (1-3): $315. Every week, students will build charactiers and scenes with Lego®s, and then film their very own stop-motion animation videos. Students will be given the chance to share their videos at the end of each class.

    Doodlematic with Mr. McKenna (3-5): $315. Join Mr. McKenna in the computer lab to learn and play with the best rapid prototyping tool on the planet: DoodleMatic! DoodleMatic turns your drawings into video games. Build a game by drawing on paper and snapping a photo, and have your drawing come to life in seconds. Use multiple game modes that encourage prototyping and iteration. Reinforce reading and writing skills by accompanying games with stories. Students can also become teachers when they turn any subject into a game that others can learn from and play. Make interactive quizzes. The educational benefits of this fun club are numerous and nearly limitless!
