• Student-to-Student Virtual College Night for SHS Juniors

    Deadline for SHS Juniors to Register: Friday, May 21, 2021
     
    Calling all currently enrolled college students who graduated from SHS: If you are willing to share your insights with your younger SHS peers, please provide your contact information and availability in this very brief Survey Form for College Students no later than Friday, May 7, 2021. Because juniors may not be able to visit colleges in person during the pandemic, your participation is more vital than ever and greatly appreciated.

    The SHS PTA is presenting a fabulous opportunity for junior students to speak directly with recent SHS graduates who are currently in college about their campus experiences. This is a “no parents allowed” evening for juniors to have an open and honest discussion with SHS alumni who are currently in college (mostly freshmen and sophomores) about college life, including everything from academics to social life to laundry.
     
    Examples of questions to pose include:
    • How did you ultimately choose which college to attend?
    • How was the transition from SHS to college?
    • How easy is it to access professors?
    • Who is teaching the classes?
    • Did you join a fraternity/sorority?
    • What is it like to live away from home?

    Last year, more than 75 SHS graduates representing over 45 colleges and universities hosted Zoom meetings to speak with groups of current SHS juniors and this year promises to offer even more choices. SHS juniors will have the opportunity to choose in advance from the schools represented and attend up to four 20-minute Zoom sessions. After the close of registration, juniors will be emailed their assigned schedule and Zoom links to meet with students at the colleges of their choice.
