Welcome to Raider Girls' Lacrosse
This spring, Scarsdale High School will field two Girls' Lacrosse teams:- Varsity is for the top lacrosse players, who demonstrate the strongest skills and abilities, regardless of grade-level.
- JV is for freshmen and sophomores to develop their skills and capabilities to give them the best chance to move up to the Varsity level.
-
TryoutsTryouts begin on March 13, 2023 and players must have their completed gold card from the school nurse. Information on how to get a gold card can be found atTryouts will take place at Scarsdale High School, either on the field or in the High School Gyms.
Times will be determined by field availability and weather conditions.
Each player must have a mouth guard, water bottle and proper lacrosse equipment.Players are expected to be present at all tryout sessions. Missing sessions will be incorporated into the coach's evaluation of players for the Varsity team.Tryouts consist of assessments of individual lacrosse skills. Players will be evaluated based on a rubric. Players will be assigned to Varsity or JV based on that rubric. The coaching staff also tests the athletes for general athleticism.Players are also evaluated on their cooperation with other players and their ability to take direction from the coaching staff. -
Preseason PracticeA calendar will be shared with the team and parents listing the practice and game times and dates. Changes might be made based on field space and weather conditions.Players must be prepared to practice inside or outside.

Regular Season
Girls' Lacrosse is a commitment of about 2.5 hours per day, 6 days a week and occasional Saturday practices, games and competitions. It is our expectation that athletes will be present for all team tryouts, scrimmages, practices, games and tournaments.
The regular season ends in late June for both teams.
Varsity is then eligible for post-season play.
