  • Welcome to Raider Baseball

This spring, Scarsdale High School will field three Baseball teams:
    • Varsity is for the top baseball players, who demonstrate the strongest skills and abilities, regardless of grade-level.
    • JV is for freshmen and sophomores to develop their skills and capabilities to give them the best chance to move up to the Varsity level.
    • Freshman is designed to allow players to develop their skills and capabilities.

  • Gold Cards
Submit all Gold Card paperwork to the SHS Nurse before April 14, 2021 to insure that the Gold Card can be issued prior to the start of tryouts.
Tryouts begin on April 19, 2021 and players must have their completed gold card from the school nurse. Information on how to get a gold card can be found at
Tryouts will take place at SUNY Purchase and Scarsdale High School, either on the field or in the High School Gyms per the following schedule:
    • Varsity, JV and Freshman
      • Monday, April 19th from 4 pm - 6 pm at SUNY Purchase
      • Tuesday, April 20th from 4 pm - 6 pm at SUNY Purchase
      • Wednesday, April 21st from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm at Crossways Field
Times will be determined by field availability and weather conditions.
Teams will be established on after April 21, 2021.
Each player needs to have a baseball glove and pants.  No shorts.  Please bring a bat and a helmet if possible.
Players are expected to be present at all tryout sessions.  Missing sessions will be incorporated into the coach's evaluation of players for the Varsity team.
Tryouts consist of assessments of individual baseball skills.  Each player will be evaluated on a player profile.  Players will be placed on teams based on how they scored.
The coaching staff also tests the athletes for general athleticism.
Players are also evaluated on their cooperation with other players and their ability to take direction from the coaching staff.

  • Regular Season

Baseball is a commitment of about 2-3 hours per day, 5-6 days a week and occasional Saturday games and competitions.  It is our expectation that athletes will be present for all team tryouts, scrimmages, practices, games and tournaments.

The regular season ends in late June for all teams.

Varsity is then eligible for post-season play.
