    Welcome to AT U.S. History

This course traces the development of our nation from its inception as a polity through the 20th century. After spending two years studying world history, you will be able to see how the economic, political, and social trends in America fit within a broader global context. However, this class also gives us an opportunity to look inward, to examine who we are as Americans and understand how the decisions of our forebearers created the nation we live in today. Doing so will allow us to think critically about what it means to be an American and what our participation should be in a nation "of the people, by the people, and for the people."
