The UN at 70: Making a Difference
On January 30th, 2015, Scarsdale teachers and administrators attended a day-long conference with UN delegates and experts. They interacted with other educators, students, and representatives from NGOs who are interested in teaching about the United Nations. Participants, "learned why, how, and by whom the UN was founded, what has changed over these seventy years as the UN has adapted to each succeeding decade, and what the future holds as it moves forward to achieve new goals" (CTAUN, 2015).
On March 16th, 2015, Adina Mistry (8th Grade - Fountain House) spoke at the 59th Commission on the Status of Women. Mr. Maldarelli, her Social Studies teacher, attended the event to support and encourage her work with the Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America (FEZANA) U.N.
