Mr. Andrew Brown and I direct both of the choruses, to the wonderful piano accompaniment of Mr. Brendan O'Keefe.
Chorus is a team effort! It is mainly about singing, but also about cooperation and spirit. This year students will learn songs in a variety of musical genres, from folk to rock music. These chorus songs will expose students to musical rounds, partner songs, singing in unison, two-part harmony, descant arrangements and following a vocal score with piano accompaniment. We will focus on vocal warm-ups that can carry over to instrumental warm-ups, so that students can make connections between different ways of performing scales and rhythms, in order to enrich their musical education as a whole. We will also include interdisciplinary connections to art and movement, as a way of enriching the choral experience for every student.
