    Dear Families,

Welcome to kindergarten!  My name is Kimberley Theall and I am thrilled to be your child’s kindergarten teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.

I am proud to say that this year marks my 27th year teaching. I have been teaching kindergarten at Edgewood since 1998. Before that, I spent five years teaching first and second grade at PS 51 in Manhattan’s District Two, and one-year teaching pre-kindergarten at Hart Magnet School in Stamford, Connecticut.  I adore teaching and each year I look forward to working with a new group of children.

In addition to being a teacher, I am also a mother. My son Stephen and I live in Weston, Connecticut. Next week Stephen will begin his sophomore year at Weston High School. I can remember his first day of kindergarten like it was yesterday. This year, your children will hear all about our family adventures so they can get a peek into our world outside of school.

With our year-long social studies unit, “ALL ABOUT ME”, I too, hope to get a glimpse into your child’s world outside of school. To get to know each other better, I would like your child to bring a family photo to school on the first day.  We will keep the family photo in the classroom all year long. On Monday, September 9th, I would like your child to bring in five items describing himself/herself. Please place these items in a brown paper baggie labeled with your child's name.  These items will be kept in school until the end of the month.

In addition, please view all the tabs on my Schoolwires teacher page on the district's website for more information about our classroom. This page will give you information about daily procedures, snacks, birthdays, curriculum etc...  Finally, please remember to pack a snack, lunch and spill-proof water botlle for your child's first day of school.  The snack and lunch should be packed in separate baggies and should be labeled with your child's name  "_______'s Snack" and  "_________'s Lunch".

I am looking forward to getting to know all you. Kindergarten is a very special time in your child’s life. I am excited to share in making this a memorable year for you and your kindergartner!
