    Dear 3-MB Families,

It our pleasure to welcome you to a new school year filled with many opportunities for growth and exploration. Together, we will enjoy a productive year with many fun-filled experiences.  There are several stimulating activities to look forward to during third grade. Some of the science content we will be studying will focus on the traits, habitats, and relationships between organisms. In addition, students will become familiar with the engineering design process, as well as with the properties of magnetism. We will be studying units on family history, cultural universals, Native Americans, New York City, and Japan as part of the social studies curriculum. We will also learn to use geography skills as we interpret maps. We will have trips and school presentations that will enhance learning experiences in all of the subject areas. Class 3-MB will also be learning how to write in cursive. In third grade, each student will continue to become an avid reader and will enjoy going through the writing process to craft many genres of published work. In math, students will focus on learning multiplication and division skills and will continue to become strong problem solvers as we navigate the units of the Primary Mathematics program.

Please remember to bring a snack and an independent reading book on the first day of school. If you did not order supplies through the PTA, please bring them with you on the first day of school.

We look forward to meeting all of you in the near future and we are eager to learn all about each student in our class. We hope your last days of summer are thoroughly enjoyable and invigorating. We are looking forward to a fantastic year with all of you.
