The present movement of “balanced literacy”
combines the instruction of phonics with the
components of a “wholelanguage” environment.
The effect of this combination will hopefully
produce fluent readers and writers.
We use pieces of several programs to aid in the development of each child's fluency.
We use brightly illustrated “soundcards.”
