PTA Food Guidelines

There is a TREE NUT-FREE/PEANUT-FREE policy within the classrooms for all students and professionals.  Please send nut-free/peanut-free snacks with your child and nut-free/peanut-free treats for classroom parties.

The Fox Meadow PTA will not serve food at PTA activities in the classroom (i.e. Learning to Look, Abilities Awareness, Whiz Kids) due to allergies and dietary restrictions of students. PTA activities that take place outside the classroom and include meals such as the Colonial Fair and American Games will be allowed with advance notice to parents of what will be served. Parents may have their child opt out of any PTA meal served.

In addition, the PTA may choose to serve a variety of other food items at events which do not occur during the school day (i.e. Fair, Multicultural Holiday Celebration). It may be that on occasion the PTA will serve a healthy snack as part of a school-wide program. Advance notice of this will also be given so parents can plan accordingly.

The Fox Meadow PTA will give every effort to avoid unnecessary additions of food at PTA activities. The Fox Meadow PTA encourages healthy and safe eating while observing the rights of parents to be informed of what their children are consuming during the day

Attention Parents of Students with Food Allergies

Occasionally there will be PTA programs in school which involve food as stated in the guidelines above. Advance warning will be given and details of menu will be available from event chairs.

If your child has a “no food except from home” policy in place and you would like them to participate in the food for a specific event, you will need to send written permission to the teacher before the day of the event stating what the student is allowed to eat. Of course, you are welcome to send food from home instead.

If you have any questions, please contact the PTA President, President Elect or Event Chairs.
