The New York State School Music Association


The Mission of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) is to advocate for and improve music education across New York State by promoting and producing appropriate activities and programs for its membership and students in member school music programs.

Every year (IN THE SPRING), students are able to prepare a solo to perform in the NYSSMA festival, should they so choose. NYSSMA is an opportunity for students to prepare a solo or small group piece and receive comments from a music judge about their performance.
 

NYSSMA Down County Festival (Instrumental/Vocal)

This year's instrumental/vocal festival is April 19th and 20th. 

HERE IS THE FORM for the instrumental/vocal festival. The due date to RETURN THE FORM is Monday, February 11th.

** THE PIANO FESTIVAL IS ON DIFFERENT DATES AND IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION.
 
This year's piano festival is May 17th and 18th.
 
HERE IS THE PIANO REGISTRATION FORM. The due date is on the form. 
 
 
 
 
*** NOTE, 2 ORIGINAL copies (not photocopies) of the solo must be used for NYSSMA. If the solo comes with an accompaniment that also has the melody, this can be given to the adjudicator as the second original copy.
